The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child see an orthodontic specialist by age seven. Children at younger ages (7-11 yrs) offer the most opportunities to utilize important growth stages to intercept or correct common dental and jaw problems. We find the children to be extremely cooperative, fun to work with and very willing to assist in making changes in their smiles.
It’s best for your child to be seen by orthodontist, Dr. Bergh of Glendale, CA by age 7. Dr. Bergh can evaluate the amount of room for the permanent teeth, the growth of the jaws, and any functional problems that might exist.
Orthodontist, Dr. Bergh has trained extensively in the field of orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics, so you can be assured that your child is in the right hands for braces and orthodontic treatment.
There are many advantages to early orthodontic treatment and evaluation.
By age 7, the first permanent molars and incisors are usually in, and by that time bite problems can be recognized and assessed for correction. Crossbites, crowding, and other problems can be seen.
When treatment is started early, Dr. Bergh can guide the growth of your child’s jaw and guide incoming permanent teeth.
Benefits of early treatment can also correct the width of the upper and lower dental arches, gain space for permanent teeth, avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, correct thumb-sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems.
Early treatment will not only correct many major problems early, but can also simplify later treatment, too.
Not every child is in need of early orthodontic treatment, and is simply placed on a complimentary recall phase in our office. During this recall phase, a patient is seen at pre-determined intervals (usually every six to twelve months) so that Dr. Bergh can monitor the child’s dental development and jaw growth until orthodontic treatment is indicated.
Call us today at (818) 242-1173 to schedule a no-obligation, complimentary evaluation for your child. We’ll provide your child with a thorough examination, including the necessary diagnostic photographs and x-rays, all at no charge to you.
These records alone may cost you 100’s of dollars in other offices, and you might even need to set up a second appointment or go to an x-ray lab before even finding out how much braces will cost.
